Meet John Lane

John Lane is a lifelong waterman and seasoned marine professional whose career spans more than two decades in the boating industry. Born and raised in Alabama and shaped by the Gulf Coast of Florida, John developed a deep connection to the water from an early age—one that would ultimately define both his athletic achievements and his professional path.

A former national and international kneeboard champion, John earned an extraordinary seven U.S. national titles and represented his country as Captain of Team USA on three separate occasions. His leadership and competitive career included major victories in London, Callaway Gardens, and Lake Placid, Florida, securing his reputation as one of the sport’s most accomplished athletes.

Beyond competition, John expanded his influence into safety, education, and marine leadership. He served as writer and host for a nationally recognized boating-safety video program produced for the National Water Safety Congress and endorsed by the U.S. Coast Guard. His credibility in the field is further backed by decades as a certified scuba diver (since 1976) and as a U.S. Coast Guard–certified OUPV captain with a Master’s upgrade.

Throughout his career, John has been invited to speak at multiple Marine Retailer Association of America (MRAA) events and the Marine Dealer Conference & Expo, sharing industry insight, safety expertise, and leadership principles with marine professionals nationwide.
